We will attempt to display Ribbon button for specific left navigation pane link in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 . If the link is that of an entity, e.g. Contact, Account, you can do it using entity rule. But what if the link is something other than an entity, e.g. Customizations, Solutions, etc. These are not entities; so how do you go about putting these links as display criteria?
Getting started with the Solution
Well, let’s see how this can be achieved. Before we start, I would be using the Ribbon Workbench, developed by Develop1, which is a heck of a tool for Ribbon Customizations in Dynamics CRM 2011 onwards! Kudos to them!
So, open up CRM and navigate to Settings > Solutions.

As you can see, I already have the Ribbon Workbench managed solution imported. Let’s create a solution for our task.

Adding required Components to Solution
Once solution is created, we are going to add the Application Ribbon’ under Client Extensions to our solution by clicking on ‘Add Existing’. This will be needed as the customization to be made is solely related to the Application Ribbon.
