So here we are with Dynamics CRM 2011 Update Rollup 16 released for the On Premise version. It comes with tons of fixes and was released on 22nd January 2014. Details of the fixes provided can be found in the official Microsoft KB Article. For those using Dynamics CRM 2011 Online, the updates might have been rolled out earlier, thus providing you the option to upgrade your Organization.
According to Microsoft, Update Rollup 16 will supposedly be “introducing a number of additional enhancements that will help reduce memory pressure on client workstations even further. These enhancements will make the memory thresholds more difficult to reach, therefore reducing any messages that the end users may be receiving in regard to low memory”. Also, this might be the last Update Rollup for CRM 2011 as per Microsoft.

Installing the CRM 2011 Update Rollup 16
For installing the Update Rollup, it is necessary that you have at least Update Rollup 6 (build 5.0.9690.1992) installed. The installation went smooth without any hiccups.

And as always, a restart is required for the changes to take effect.

After a successful installation, if you head over to File > Help > About Microsoft Dynamics CRM, you should be able to see the changed version number which would display 5.0.9690.3911

Installing the Update Rollup for the Reporting Services and the Router (in case you’re using it) would be the same as that for the Server.
Changes After Installing Rollup
There is a whole bunch of fixes that have been provided as a part of this Update Rollup. For the complete list, please refer to the Microsoft KB Article.
If anything went wrong, this update can be uninstalled. But as Microsoft recommends, it’s always best to have your database backed up before applying the rollup.
